Public invited to vote in Aiyoh…Wat Lah? awards (The Sun Daily)

My comment on the announcement that voting was open to the public for the “Aiyoh… Wat Lah?! 2013” Awards:

“The Awards aim to raise awareness on what constitutes sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia to encourage higher standards of behaviour from public figures and to inform the public of what kind of candidates they are voting for,” said Yu Ren Chung, Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) spokesperson.

“However for the other categories, we have amongs [sic] other things, Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s quote, ‘Pakai sarung tangan pegang isteri nanti tak terasa,’ (If I wear gloves I will not be able to feel up my wife) which was made when he was handed a pair of gloves by women’s rights activists as part of a campaign calling for clean governance,” Yu said.
